Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The Job Seeker Support Group Facilitator (JSSG) facilitates a weekly Job Club located at Women's Resource Center. The group meets every Thursday from 10:00 - 11:30am. The group is voluntary to clients of Women's Resource Center. The group's purpose is to provide support and encouragement to WRC clients who attend. Job Seekers who attend this group find support among their peers. They network and share job leads with each other. Clients can share their successes and frustrations and get out of the house and talk with others who are in similar circumstances. There is generally a topic of discussion lead by the facilitator. Arrangements are made for guest speakers on a regular basis. Topics covered in this group are employment related (interviewing, career assessment, networking, fighting the blues, etc) The facilitator will work with the WRC Volunteer Coordinator to plan topics and guest speakers. This in NOT a therapy group. This is a year long commitment with the group meeting weekly except when major holidays fall on Thursday.

Prefer someone with a background in group facilitation. Knowledgeable of group dynamics, etc. Also have general working knowledge of current job search trends, typical skills needed to obtain employment, etc. Ability to get along with others and develop relationships with clients and staff at WRC.

Continue on Monroe to Newberry intersection. 4.Turn left onto Newberry, which becomes the 6th St. bridge. 5.Turn left onto Front Ave. NW From West of Grand Rapids 1.Take 196 East to 131 North. Immediately move to right lane to exit at Leonard St.** 2.Turn right on Leonard St. 3.Go one block and turn right (south) onto Front NW. 4.Continue on Front NW, past 6th St intersection.
