Description: In the Geneva Conventions of 1949, the global community recognized the need for rules, or International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to guide the conduct of warfare and protect the vulnerable. As a part of our mission, the American Red Cross educates the American Public about IHL. Exploring Humanitarian Law (EHL) is an adaptable toolkit that gives high school teachers easy-to-use materials to expose students to issues of international humanitarian law—the rules that ensure respect for life and human dignity in war. Aligned with social studies requirements around the country, the toolkit offers educators primary source materials and strategies that reinforce and enrich existing curricula and educational programs. Our chapter needs volunteers to promote EHL and educate school officials and teachers about these important humanitarian laws. Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute plans for marketing and outreach of EHL in area schools.
- Research and contact area schools, their administrative staff, and teachers
- Develop trainings and workshops to help teachers integrate EHL resources into their current curriculum.

- Knowledge of and interest in secondary education
