The African Community center is seeking a full-time Resource
development coordinator through the Americorp*VISTA program . This national service
project is an excellent opportunity for anyone seeking to give back to a community in
need while gaining valuable experience in organizational development and community
revitalization. The ideal candidate will be creative, outgoing and have passion for the
power of grassroots refugee’s groups to possibly affect the local immigrant’s community.
This position is located in our beautiful City of Grand Rapids, West-Michigan. Under the
direction of the Executive Director, the VISTA Development Coordinator will implement a
Research and development Plan for the African Community Center.
-Responsibility:
- Develop short and long-range objectives for fund raising based upon
ACC’s Strategic Plan and fund development priorities.
- Research and identify public and private grant agencies, foundations,
corporations, and individuals, to identify potential funding sources.
- Organize information, contacts, and maintain relationships with potential
donors, including other charitable organizations (churches) and individuals.
-Qualification:
• Some relevant experience working in the non-profit sector, education, public relations
and Refugee advocacy
• Degree and/or experience that provides required knowledge and skills
• Excellent professional presentation, communication, networking skills
• Ability to work with a wide range of stake holders and to communicate effectively with
clients we serve.
• Ability to successfully write grant applications
• Strong proficiency using computers and Microsoft Office applications
