Support group leaders volunteer to lead or co-lead a family caregiver support group. The support group leader’s role is to facilitate group interaction focused on acceptance, active listening, empathy and assistance with problem solving. The leader will support the mission of the Alzheimer's Association and serve as a liaison between the regional office and support group members
- Knowledge about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, or willingness to learn.
- Dependable
- Team Player
- Ability to commit the required amount of time (Helpline minimum of 3 hours/week and Support Group Leader, length of group time and frequency of group meetings).
- Empathy, patience, dependability, motivation, good communication and listening skills, and a positive attitude.
- Maintain Confidentiality
Other individual duties will be discussed by coordinators
