4-H Clubs Need Volunteer Leaders

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on January 22, 2009

A variety of volunteer roles are available within 4-H. Adults age 19 and older may choose to form their own 4-H club or volunteer with an existing 4-H club in a project area that is of interest to both the volunteer and the youth in the club. Adults who are interested in forming their own club should contact our office and begin the application process. Kent County 4-H uses a rigorous screening process for volunteers to protect the safety and well-being of the youth we serve. Once accepted as a volunteer leader, the volunteer can then schedule club meetings, help youth select projects to work on within the club, help youth understand and use parliamentary procedures to run club meetings, plan community service opportunities and much more!

Volunteers who have a specific talent they would like to share but are not interested in forming their own club can serve as a project leader or resource leader in existing clubs. Volunteers in this capacity work closely with the key volunteer leader to plan and implement activities within the club setting.

All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Selection Process. This process includes an application, criminal background check, interview and orientation to the 4-H program in Kent County. Interested volunteers should contact our office by phone or visit our web site to download the application materials.
