Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on March 24, 2009 |
Barbara worked at The Sight Seer Radio Reading Service for six years. When her husband retired from Smith Aerospace, they wanted to enjoy being near their family. They moved to Florida. Barb started out as a book reader. Her interest grew when she saw other opportunities for volunteer service to people who couldn't read for themselves. Soon she was doing program planning, creating spots for broadcasting, and had become the Librarian. You may want to share your talents in the office, in the recording studio or computer skills. Come and meet many interesting volunteers, and listeners. Call The Sight Seer at (616) 235-0020 - or come in to see how volunteers share their lives by giving a window to the world to people who are blind.
The Orientation is an adventure into the world of radio broadcasting. It takes about forty five minutes to decide whether or not this would be of interest to new volunteers. Office skills are important, especially typing and computer experience. Reading and creative writing opportunities will bring pleasure to you and to our listeners.
