Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on August 10, 2009 |
It is a true privilege to walk through the "end of life journey" with a patient at the most intimate and vulnerable time of life. Volunteers add a special dimension to our hospice work by offering simple but valuable gifts: a supportive presence, a warm smile, a tender touch, a shoulder to cry upon, a listening ear, a heartfelt willingness to help and care -providing comfort and peace a critical time. Minimal physical care is involved and schedules are very flexible. A wide variety of patient care opportunities exist (other than Bedside "Companion" Volunteer) - caregiver relief, spiritual care, housekeeping, cooking, laundry, shopping, errands, home maintenance, yard work, music therapy, pet therapy, massage therapist, cosmetologist, healing touch, reiki, reflexology, aromatherapy, "My Stories Program" life review, grief support, etc... In return, volunteers are graciously blessed by knowing they've made a real and significant difference that directly impacts the "quality" of life for patients and their families. Joining the Hospice of Michigan team is sure to lead to your most enriching experiences ever. Schedules are flexible around volunteer availability and opportunities exist covering a large area of several counties around Grand Rapids. For more information contact Karen McCambridge at 616-356-5235 or toll free @ 1-800-642-4021 or e-mail kmccambr@hom.org
