YES! Youth Empowerment Services Mentoring Program

YES! (Youth Empowerment Services) Alliance is a church, community and family court partnership. The Alliance supports mentors from area churches and community partners. Our mission is to provide empowerment services within a positive, preventative, proactive and safe environment - along with family support for youth ages 9-17 who are involved in the Kent County Justice System.
Our goals are to have mentors serve as advocates and positive role models for youth involved in the juvenile justice system, to provide support for the youth and family as the progress through the court process and to provide support as they face daily life challenges (homework assistance, community resources for the family, etc.)
We are looking for Mentors who will make a commitment to meet with a youth once a week for 1 hour for the duration of a year.
Mentors will receive:
- Training opportunities such as: the family court process, asset development, youth development, and interventions to use while spending time with their mentee.
- A $75.00 budget to spend on activities with their mentee.
- Mileage reimbursement.
- The opportunity to be a blessing in the life of a youth.
- Support and encouragement from the YES! Coordinator.
Mentors will need to agree to both a criminal and an abuse and neglect check. In addition, three personal references will be requested and processed.
