Junior Achievement is a win-win volunteer opportunity for business people, retirees, and college students! The "feel good" rewards make volunteering awesome! Here is an opportunity to make a difference to students in schools across the area. Classroom "consultants" who serve as role models for students are needed at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. Teach at a school in your neighborhood or one you yourself attended.

There are over 300 classrooms waiting for JA volunteers beginning in January. Busy time of year for you? You can choose to wait until March or April. Too busy to make such a commitment? Team teach with a coworker or spouse. College students - here is an opportunity to brush up on your presentation skills and show your community involvement on your resume.

A one-time training will make you comfortable as a non-teacher to present in a classroom for either a ten, eight, or five week commitment. The volunteer will implement lessons with support from the classroom teacher. All materials including prepared lesson plans are provided. The JA high school program is taught in an Economics class. International Marketplace, Enterprise in Action, Personal Economics, or the Economics of Staying in School are the JA middle grades programs. Elementary classes span kindergartern through sixth grade. Students learn concepts and skills at each grade level that build on those taught in preceing grades. You can make a difference - call Pat Wolf at 575-9080 ext 32!
