The term of service will be from Sept. 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010.

Members will recruit volunteers and supervise the disadvantaged population in performing community service projects in targeted neighborhoods, along with: * Help plan and lead appropriate service projects as guided by the Site Supervisor. * Help transport group participants to site using Department of Correction's vehicles. * Work side-by-side with the disadvantaged population to complete meaningful service projects. * Model pro-social behaviors. * Facilitate team building skills among the group members. * Help guide projects to a successful completion. * Fill out evaluation forms at end of each project. * Maintain positive relationships with partner agencies

Restorative Community Service: Volunteers supervise community service projects so that the disadvantaged population provides valued reparative service to the community and can form an attachment to their community, a factor associated with decreased recidivism. Involvement helps assess and develop this population's readiness to work; they learn hard and soft job skills. Community capacity building: Strengthen neighborhoods by working to identify and develop the leadership talent within to address crime prevention and poverty-related community needs.
