The Des Moines Sports Commission is in need of volunteers for the 2009 AAU Junior Olympic Games, July 27th through August 8th in the Greater Des Moines Area. To help with the Sports Commission's recruiting effort, please forward this information to your contact list and anyone else you know that may be interested in volunteering for the 2009 AAU Junior Olympic Games.  Individuals can volunteer for an afternoon, a day, or for an entire event – any donation of time will help us showcase Des Moines to our visitors. Please help us by spreading the word about this great volunteer opportunity! The Games bring an estimated 35,000 visitors to Central Iowa over 14 days with 14,000 athletes from all over the United States.  21 sports will be competing in the games including: Track & Field, Jump Rope, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Baseball, and many more.  The majority of the competitors will be at Drake Stadium and the Iowa Events Center with various other competitions held throughout the Greater Des Moines Area.  The event will have an economic impact that is expected to exceed $25 million.
