The Humana Starlight Award is Humana's way to celebrate exceptional senior volunteers, while providing financial support to organizations that do good work in the Des Moines, Iowa community. Through the Humana Starlight Award, Humana will honor a senior volunteer and donate a one-time $10,000 grant to a qualifying nonprofit organization of the award recipient's choice. The Humana Starlight Award supports local nonprofits that are classified as 501(c) (3) and serve the Des Moines Area with a focus in one of three service categories - mind, body, or spirit. Anyone can nominate an individual age 65 years or older who has served as a volunteer in 2009 for a qualifying organization. The nominee cannot be an elected official. To nominate someone for the Humana Starlight Award, please download an application at www.humana.com/starlight. The application deadline is October 9th, 2009. Applications should be emailed to StarlightDesMoines@humana.com or mailed to 5107 Utica Ridge Road - Davenport, IA 52807. A panel of judges made up of community leaders, public officials, and local executives will evaluate the applications and choose the award recipient.
