Last updated on April 30, 2009

Community Volunteers are wanted for our Restorative Justice Sentencing Circles. This is a ongoing volunteer opportunity that typically asks volunteers to commit to 1-2 hours every other week, in the evenings. Sentencing Circles are an alternative to typical offender Court imposed sentences for juveniles. Sentencing Circles help offenders to set goals towards repairing the harm they have done to individuals and the community. Community Volunteers are an important piece of the Sentencing Circle as they bring their own unique experiences and knowledge to the circle. No Volunteer will be turned away. Circles consist of 1-3 offenders that have committed a crime, their support person, the victim(s), and typically three or more Community Volunteers. Training is available, however you do not have to attend a training to become a volunteer in the program. Training does help build confidence and answer many questions you may have about the process. If you think you may be interested in becoming involved, or want to observe a circle session prior to committing to our program you may reach me at 320-235-8939 and we can set a time to speak in person! Community Volunteers decide which circle location they would like to participate. Circles are currently held in Raymond, Willmar and New London. We have an especially high need for volunteers that are bi-lingual and/or young adult males.
