Our Mission as a school is "To meet the challenges of today and tomorrow, the Ala Wai School Community will use all available resources to achieve high standards in a safe, positive and nurturing environment." One way to accomplish that is to strengthen our volunteer tutoring involvement. Having the more volunteers will ensure that our mission is met.
Description:
Our school is in great need of tutors both during the day and for our after school programs that have recently started. We have programs ranging from Chorus to Math Facts to Homework Help as well as assistance that is need in the classrooms. Some teachers simple need someone to come into the school and read to a group of students or to focus on one child. Whatever you can do to help would be very much appreciated. Mahalo!

Students at Ala Wai are the best thing about Hawaii

I volunteered in the classroom at Ala Wai for first grade and found it to be a very worthwhile endeavor. The teachers and students are awesome. Seeing growth in the students was wonderful. Everyone made me feel AT HOME and even called me cousin like I was part of the family. I plan to volunteer again at Ala Wai starting Feb. 1st after a Christmas vacation in Texas.
