To be a vibrant resource, strengthening our diverse community by educating present and future generations in the evolving Japanese American experience in Hawai`i. We do this through relevant programming, meaningful community service and innovative partnerships that enhance the understanding of our heritage, culture and love of the land. To guide us in this work we draw from the values found in our Japanese American traditions and the spirit of Aloha.

Description:
The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i is organized for the following purposes and powers:
to support and promote research and scholarship with respect to the arts, culture, history, language and mores of America and Japan;
to provide a convenient and hospitable gathering place for the study, display, demonstration and interchange of such arts, culture, history, language and mores;
to preserve and disseminate the history and legacies of Japanese in Hawai'i;
to encourage and support organizations in Hawai'i that engage in and contribute to the above activities;
and to establish or undertake such programs, facilities and activities, as in the opinion of the Board of Directors, will be in furtherance of the aforesaid purposes;
all with the ultimate purpose of promoting better understanding and relations between the people of America and Japan working together for world peace and prosperity.
