The Volunteer Connection (Six County RSVP And Volunteer Center)

MISSION

It is the mission THE VOLUNTEER CONNECTION (Six County RSVP and the Volunteer Center) to connect people with opportunities to serve, promote volunteering, “Tell the Story”, celebrate the impact of constructive volunteering, and meet local community needs.

VISION

It is the vision of THE VOLUNTEER CONNECTION to mobilize people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems

Description:
It is the vision of the Volunteer Connection to mobilize people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems. To achieve this vision, the Volunteer Connection will:
Provide people with easy access to a wide variety of opportunities to connect to their community through service.
Help agencies, businesses and individuals, who work with volunteers, do a better job recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers.
Raise awareness of the power of service, encourage people to volunteer, provide information about volunteerism, and recognize the contributions of volunteers.
Serve as convener for the community and a catalyst for action; work through local partnerships and collaborations with businesses, law enforcement, grassroots groups, schools, and community leaders to identify needs and mobilize volunteer response.

About the Project:

The Volunteer Connection serves a rural, six county area, which covers 17,000 square miles in central Utah. Each small town in the county has an individual 'personality', but there is a feeling of 'community' that binds the individual towns into a unit. The population of the entire county is just over 19,000, 7,000 of which live in the county seat of Richfield. There are 1,935 square miles in the county, the greatest portion of which is owned by federal and state government. Dominant industries are agriculture, aspen harvesting, construction, government employment, mining, and tourism. There are nine religious denominations in the county, and although the greatest majority of residents are white, we are proud of the many ethnic groups represented in the population.
The people of the county have always exercised civic involvement and watched out for their neighbors - but modern lifestyles are changing the ways in which individuals interact with their neighbors. It is now becoming necessary to organize efforts to meet critical community needs in a more formal way. The Volunteer Connection is committed to increasing the public awareness of unmet needs in the community - recruiting and mobilizing individuals of all ages to get involved, give of their time and talents to help solve community problems - and building a network of organizations that are striving to meet those needs. Working together we can more effectively match willing volunteers with opportunities for service that will make a difference in the lives of individuals in the Six County Area.
