Position title: Board Member needed for Long Term Fund Development
Description: Summary:
The Board Member provides leadership, creates overall strategy, and manages implementation of
initiatives designed to build long-term financial stability. The Board Member is responsible for
significant growth in all aspects of AAAA’s fundraising including annual, major and planned gifts; special campaigns; foundation and corporate relations; and special events.

Essential Duties and Functions:
-Fundraising Management and Donor Cultivation
-Provide vision and guidance to AAAA’s leadership and Board of Directors on strategies to increase and strengthen the organization’s funding base.
-Establish collaborative working relationships with the AAAA’s leadership, board members and volunteers and ensure effective use of resources and talents.
-Create and implement annual fundraising strategies to meet revenue goals.
-Cultivate, develop and maintain relationships with donor prospects, including annual and major donors; corporations and foundations; and community partners.
-Provide leadership, direction and oversight for establishing programs, including planned giving, annual fund campaigns, car donations, on-line donations and the AAAA’s programs (Childcare, Tutoring, Amateur Athletics and Charter Schools)
-Develop and direct major donor cultivation, support the Board’s role in major donor cultivation, and conduct major gift solicitations.
-Research foundation and corporation funding opportunities, develop grant proposals, meet
funding and reporting requirements.
-Develop and implement new strategies to enhance the AAAA’s on-line fundraising.
-Work collaboratively with the AAAA’s Communications Department to ensure consistent donor messaging in all communications.
-Motivate, train, and coach all staff on positive donor relations, and maximize contribution opportunities throughout the AAAA’s departments and programs. Special Event and Capital Campaign Management.
-Provide leadership and direction for all Development events, increasing opportunities to showcase the organization to current and potential donors.
-Develop and implement donor recognition and cultivation events.
-Work collaboratively with the President and Board of Directors on developing strategies for capital campaigns; implement and manage all aspects of campaign initiatives.
-Cultivate capital campaign prospects and implement solicitation strategies.

Program Administration
-Create annual fundraisings plans, revenue goals and timelines.
-Prepare and submit annual income projections for review; prepare and execute annual department budget.
-Evaluate financial achievements and resource allocations through data analysis; provide statistical reports to the AAAA’s leadership, Board of Directors, and stakeholders.
-Provide oversight for the AAAA’s donor database management processes and the production of accurate data for direct mail, invitations, special solicitations, mailings, and publications.
-Ensure appropriate systems for prospect management and reporting; donor research; donor and gift recordkeeping; acknowledgment processes; and donor communications.
-Provide leadership, supervision and coaching for Development staff; sustain a strong commitment to teamwork, high professional standards, and continuing development.
-Assist staff with the development of annual goals, timelines, and measurables; provide ongoing
performance management and annual reviews.

-Participate in organization-wide strategic planning and implementation process.
-Thoroughly understand the AAAA’s mission and all of its programs; serve as an enthusiastic, effective advocate of these programs internally and throughout the community.
-Attend various special events, promotions, and community functions as a representative of AAA Academy For Children.
-Provide quality customer service to clients, volunteers, and staff while actively promoting our
mission, services, programs and events.

Volunteers
-Provide leadership and development for the Board Member’s volunteer corps and ensure effective use of resources and talents.
-Work cooperatively with all volunteers and recognize the talent and commitment they bring to the
AAAA.
-Ensure a safe work environment; following all safety guidelines and modeling safe work practices.
-Take immediate action to address any safety concerns that could put a staff member, volunteer,
customer or the organization at risk.

Reporting Relationships and Contacts:
-Reports to Board
-Supervises and recruits the Volunteer Planned Giving Manager, Volunteer Individual Gifts Manager, Volunteer Fund Development Manager and Volunteer Event Coordinator

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of AAAA.
-Bachelors Degree and a minimum of five years fundraising experience, Master Degree desirable. Minimum of three years management experience.
-Demonstrated success in managing a diverse team of professionals and volunteer fundraisers, skilled in managing varied relationships and successful at facilitating collaboration and cooperation among diverse groups.
-A proven track record of meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
-Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to articulate the AAAA’s mission and needs to diverse groups.
-Demonstrated ability to secure funding from foundations and corporations, including proposal
development, research, and adherence to deadlines.
-Demonstrated ability to make-the-ask and cultivate long term donor relationships.
-Successful experience in launching and managing fundraising campaigns.
-Experience with event planning, including managing event consultants, securing sponsorships, solicitation of donations, and working with volunteers.
-Demonstrated ability for strategic analyses, and experience designing, implementing, and directing multiple complex projects, setting deadlines, and ensuring program accountability and compliance.
-Experience developing revenue and expense projections and successfully administering
departmental budgets.
-Solid experience as a member of an executive team and working with executives, board members, management and associate staff.
-Sound judgment and ability to exercise complete discretion when dealing with confidential information.
-Extreme flexibility and adaptability, a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate broad responsibilities and shifting priorities.

AAAA Mission: AAA Academy for Children, Inc. is dedicated to Academics, Achievement, and Advancement for children. The Academy combines educational enrichment with physical education, including the martial art of Taekwondo. Our programs are for children of all ages for the purpose of improving self-esteem, teaching healthy lifestyles, and building skills for life-long success.
Programs are designed to be affordable or free of cost for low-income families and include child daycare, after-school care, summer day camps, tutoring, educational enrichment, and community public education.
