Shape Up RI is an award-winning statewide non-profit organization created by Rajiv Kumar to improve the health and wellness of Rhode Islanders. This annual health campaign encourages people to pursue healthy lifestyles through increased physical activity and learning to eat healthy.
We are seeking a serious volunteer to help develop the Shape Up RI Senior Program, which is a pilot pedometer walking program designed to encourage and inspire senior citizens in Rhode Island to be more physically active.
Responsibilities include:
• Conducting research and assisting in the planning and development of the program
• Coordinating with businesses to secure donations and prizes
• Assisting in establishing project deadlines
• Assisting in developing the motivational curriculum
• Identifying 6-8 senior citizen centers or residents to participate in the pilot program
We require a self-starter, motivated, and organized individual who is willing to take on a wide variety of responsibilities. You must have proven research experience, the ability to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone, and excellent computer and writing skills.
An individual is needed to volunteer from September 2009 to May 2010, and is expected to commit 3-5 hours per week. Our office operates 9am-5pm Monday through Friday; scheduling is flexible.
