Children's Learning Center is a DCFS licensed day care program providing comprehensive, developmentally appropriate day care services to children from six weeks to twelve years of age. CLC is unique because the goal of the program is to serve primarily children from low-income families. Sixty percent of the places for infants and preschoolers are reserved for children eligible for State subsidies for child care.

Description:
The Main Center provides a full day program for infants through preschool age children along with a half day program for kindergartners and a before school program for children attending Lincoln, Tyler, and Chesebro schools in DeKalb.
The daily program for infants through kindergarten age children includes art, music, language, science, large motor, small motor and math activities. The philosophy at CLC is to strive to develop a balance between independence and cooperation. We attempt to provide a loving, caring, nurturing environment, while allowing each child the freedom to develop physical, social, cognitive and emotional skills in a developmentally appropriate environment.

History:
Founded in 1968 as a migrant workers program, the Center was housed first in rented church space and then in a vacant school building. In 1974 the program moved into a vacant factory (now the Alloyd Company building on Fourteenth Street; in 1984 to the Barb City Manor building; and in 1992 to its present location at 905 South Fourth Street. In 2002, the Center purchased its portion of the building with the generous assistance of the former owners.
