Agency Details:
Kishwaukee United Way
Kishwaukee United Way's mission is to improve lives by sharing community resources.
Description:
We host an annual campaign in our community and gather resources to support 30 human service agencies serving DeKalb County. We facilitate year-round volunteerism, encourage and facilitate in-kind gifts to our agencies, and advocate for and support non-profit agency work in our area. We are governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who evaluate agency programs and direct funds annually, and analyze where funds are most needed each and every year.
History:
We were founded in 1929 as the DeKalb Community Chest, and evolved into the DeKalb United Way. Our organization has been serving our area for almost 80 years. In 2004 the Sycamore United Fund and the DeKalb United Way merged to form the Kishwaukee United Way, allowing for more focused efforts in support of our community.
