Description:
Big Brothers Big Sisters match caring,stable volunteer role models with school aged-children (5-18) who want and need a mentor / friend. The volunteer and child must agree to be matched for a year and will have support from the Big Brothers Big Sisters staff. The volunteer must be at least 16 years old, be willing to complete the entire application process, must consent to background checks and want to be with a child to help build self esteem and have fun.
History:
Family Service Agency has been in the DeKalb County community since 1956. Big Brothers Big Sisters became part of the Family Service Agency in 1970 and has served thousands of children during the past 39+ years. Children who are mentored tend to do better in school, have better peer relations and better relationships with their parents and other adults.
