In this position, a volunteer or intern can help make a positive impact within the DeKalb County community by helping raise awareness of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. This position also helps to educate community members about definitions of domestic violence and sexual assault as well as their effects on the community as a whole. In addition to providing the community with information and awareness, this position also provides community members with specific services that Safe Passage offers.
Community Education – Job Description – 7/8/08 Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator Objective: To disseminate educational information on domestic violence and sexual assault programs offered through Safe Passage, to the communities which make up DeKalb County. Duties and Responsibilities: Hang posters in various locations in DeKalb County. Distribute information on domestic violence and Safe Passage to businesses, churches, and service organizations in DeKalb County. Assist the Community Resources and Crisis Intervention Coordinator with health fairs, trade fairs, public events, etc. Create a public information campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault issues. Qualifications: Attend and complete necessary training. Be dependable and maintain a commitment to the agency. Ability to work independently or in a team. Strong listening skills Strong organizational skills Posses a valid driver’s license Access to a reliable and safe vehicle.
