"To provide those supports necessary to enable people with mental retardation to live as independently and fully as they desire within the community."
Description:
PAI provides supports to individuals through their Adult Day Service and Residential Programs. Supports are given in activities of daily living, job training, personal care, community involvement and individual needs. Trained staff provide 24 hour support in the residential program. The Adult Day Service is a program that operates Monday through Friday and includes a Work program. Our staff provide support in personal care, recreational activities, housekeeping, yard work, vacations, shopping, and all the routines of life.
History:
PAI has been a vital support to individuals with mental retardation in Lancaster County for over 25 years. It has grown from four residential sites to 24 at the present time. The Adult Day Services Program which began in 1982 with 11 people now supports over 80 individuals. In 1992 PAI began supervision of its first independent living arrangements for two individuals. PAI quickly grew and moved to its present location in East Petersburg in 1999. It continues to give dedicated service to the community!
