The Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center of Lancaster County is a not-for-profit organization that provides a family centered education and therapy program for infants, children and adolescents with developmental delays and disabilities in the Lancaster County area. Our goal oriented approach maximizes each child's ability to function as independently as possible within the community.
Description:
The Schreiber Pediatric Rehab Center provides physical, occupational and speech therapies, educational and recreational programs for infants, children and adolescents (from birth through age 21) with developmental delays and physical disabilities. Programming includes S.T.A.R.S. inclusional preschool and recreation programs, such as HOOPS basketball, TOPSoccer, Bumper Bowling, Karate Kids, Water Works and Social Skills. Families receive support through a Respite Care program, a Parent Support Group, and Social Services. The Center also offers a disability awareness program called "We're All Special(TM)"
History:
The Schreiber Center has provided services to children and adults with disabilities since 1936. The organization, originally known as the Society for Crippled Children and Adults, was formed by Edna Schreiber and other concerned community members. During the late 1980's, the organization began to focus its efforts on its preschool, as well as specialized pediatric therapy services for infants, children and adolescents. In October 1994, the organization disaffiliated from the Pennsylvania and National Easter Seal Societies in an effort to maintain local autonomy over its programs and resources.

Overall Experience

Having fun and being active
 |
I volunteer at Schreiber Pediatric Center of Lancaster and it has taught me to have patience and to be greatful for what I have in terms of health. It's a great experience to see what a child that has disabilities goes through in a days time and you understand better on how they might feel. posted by Relots on October 5, 2008 |

What a great time!

I volunteered for the Schreiber's Duck Race. It was a fun time for everyone. People were caring and made sure that you were well taken care of. I am looking forward to doing it again next year! posted by jennyc91 on August 10, 2006 |
