Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley

Since 1971, volunteers from Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County have delivered over five million meals to people unable to shop or prepare adequate meals for themselves because of age, disability or illness. Our program enables these individuals to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible by providing a consistent source of nutritious food.

Description:
Our program relies upon volunteer drivers and visitors to deliver meals each weekday on thirty-two routes. Leaving from one of three pickup locations (Allentown, Fountain Hill, and Slatington), these volunteers see up to fifteen clients per route, taking from one to two hours to complete deliveries (from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Our volunteers provide a much-needed connection to the community while helping people retain their independence.
