How to be an Effective Member of a Non Profit Board: An introduction to board membership that covers the fundamentals of successful non profit board participation. Attendees will learn about the roles and responsibilities of non profit boards and their members.

Who should attend:  Community volunteers interested in joining a board or current board members wishing to increase skills.

Human Resources 101 – Best Practices for Profits:  Workshop is designed to help non profit organizations take a proactive approach to the ever-changing world of HR, including Recruiting, Retention & Motivation. Hand outs provided.

Who should attend:  Nonprofit agency Executive Directors or HR Managers

When: November 27, 8:30-11:30 AM

Where: American Red Cross Building, 2200 Ave. A, 1st Fl conference room

Cost:  $50 (VC Agency Members - $40) includes materials and light refreshments

Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute Training:  A state-of-the-art training program designed to teach leadership and community service skills to middle school and high school age students. There are three main components to the program: the curriculum, the community service project, and a graduation ceremony.

Instructor: Christiane Conn, Director of Youth Programs, Volunteer Center

Who should attend: Middle School & High School students interested in volunteer leadership

When: Call to set up date; 30 hours in multi-week program

Where: Volunteer Center, 2nd floor conference room

Cost: $100 per student, limited scholarships available
