Family Volunteer Day-November 21 - is designed to demonstrate the power of families who choose to volunteer together to support the communities in which they live and serve. Here are some collection opportunities LehighValley families can do anytime in the next 2 weeks!  
 
MOSSER VILLAGE FOOD BANK, Allentown – Serving families in East Allentown the center needs non perishable items: canned fruits & veggies, boxes items such as: mac & cheese, tomato sauces, pasta rice, etc. Drop-off at: 614 South Carlisle Street, Allentown, PA Monday-Friday between 9am-5pm. Call: 610-820-4068.
 
FEED THE ANIMALS, Easton - The Center for Animal Health and Welfareprovides shelter, healthcare and adoption services urgently needs wet cat food and cat litter, but also needs dry cat and dog food, kitten formula and new cat and dog toys. Drop-off at: 1165 Island Park Road, Easton MWF 9am-4pm; TuTh 9am-8pm and Sat 10:30am-6pm. www.healthyanimalcenter.org Call: 610-252-7722 or email cahwadmin@rcn.com
 
 
BABY BANK – babies use an average of 12 diapers a day. Some parents can't afford 2. Help provide babies with basic supplies and donate diapers, wipes, ointment, formula or baby food. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – Sunday, November 1, 2009
 
PBS 39, Bethlehem – PBS is looking for volunteers to help answer phones and take pledges during their December pledge drive. They need 5 volunteers per shift; either groups or individuals can sign up! These breaks will NOT be live on-air or televised at any point. LEHIGH COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (EMA) seeks volunteers – both medical and non-medical staff, to assist at upcoming vaccination clinics.   Non-medical volunteers will be tasked with jobs such as: line staff (directing individuals), registration, break-room, supplies, runners and traffic control.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Tanya Light at tanyalight@lehighcounty.org or 610-782-4600.
 
HISTORIC BETHLEHEM PARTNERSHIP, Bethlehem – Help prepare for their 7th annual Turkey Trot 5K and Fitness Walk! MILLER KEYSTONE BLOOD CENTER, Lehigh Valley – Locations throughout the LehighValley are looking for Canteen Attendants to serve donors after their life saving donation. They offer various fixed site opportunities as well as mobile sites throughout the area.  Babysitting openings also in Bethlehem. Mornings, afternoons or evenings available. Times depend on location. On going training available.   Contact Naomi Pratt 610-691-5850 or npratt@hcsc.org
 
VOLUNTEER CENTER OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem – Do you have good writing, communication and basic computer skills? Assist the VolunteerCenter staff with on going in-house projects. Hours are flexible Mondays through Fridays 8:30am-4:30pm. Call Sandie at 610-807-0336 or skelly@volunteerlv.org
 
LEHIGH VALLEY HOSPICE, Allentown – Be a front desk partner, assist with errands or be a patient companion. Front Desk partner - office experience needed. Individuals help greet visitors, answer phones, and perform other clerical tasks. Applicant must make time commitment, be customer service oriented and have excellent organizational skills. Assist with Errands – volunteers play a significant role in assisting patients and families with running errands such as grocery shopping or making deliveries. Patient Companion – roles of a companion can be reading, listening, talking or simply the gift of presence. Can be weekly or on an as needed basis.

LEHIGH VALLEY SCORE is seeking experienced business people to offer counseling and advice to those starting up small businesses and non-profit organizations. Volunteer counselors may present workshops and seminars at group meetings, assist with on-line counseling, or offer management and marketing advice. Other volunteers choose to become involved in the administrative process assisting other counselors. New volunteers will work with experienced counselors to become acquainted with the process. ST LUKE'S HEALTH NETWORK, Allentown – Volunteers needed as the East Lobby reception assistant.  Greet patients and visitors; provide a personal escort to various areas in the hospital.  Meet new people, develop new skills and relationships!  Monday through Friday 7:30-11:30am or 11:30am-3:30pm. MEALS ON WHEELS NORTHAMPTON COUNTY/BETHLEHEM AREA, Bethlehem – be an Order Taker and/or Food Shopper.  Order Takers come into the office Mon & Tues from 8:30-11:30am, call clients to prepare a grocery list.  Shoppers go to a Giant stores in Bethlehem or Nazareth, pick up client's prepared list at Customer Service and shop! HAWK MOUNTAIN, Kempton –during the fall migration season September through November volunteers are needed at the Visitor Center.  Bookstore-assist staff with merchandise/membership sales; provide info to visitors (training required); Information/Hospitality-provide info about all aspects of Sanctuary: membership, facilities, trails (training required); Keeper of the Gate-check member cards & tickets, promote & sell merchandise, provide info at trail entrance (Training required); Parking/traffic control-special events & fall weekends, direct visitors & provide info. JOSEPH H. FIRTH YOUTH CENTER, Phillipsburg, NJ needs volunteers, age 16 and older, to help school-aged children with homework, computer learning, doing crafts, shooting hoops, and playing games. Youth members enjoy activities Monday through Friday from approximately 3PM to 6PM and on Saturdays from 10:30AM to 2:30PM in the center's gym, activities room, weight room, computer room, and crafts room. Our members grades 9 – 12 join us on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Volunteers may have to complete a background check to be able to work with children. LEHIGHCOUNTYSENIORCENTER, Allentown – One-time maintenance jobs. Are you handy with a hammer, paint brush, or drill? There are always small projects at the Center that need to get done. Our 15,000 square foot facility is newly renovated; but with over 200 people a day utilizing it, there is an ongoing need for a little TLC.
