Meals of Marin's mission is to provide nourishment, comfort, hope and dignity to home-bound people battling life-threatening illnesses in Marin County. We do this through the daily preparation and home-delivery of freshly cooked, healthy, appetizing meals.

Description:
Meals of Marin is 96% volunteer driven. We provide approximately 350 meals every day to people battling AIDS, breast cancer, other cancers and other critical illnesses. We often provide food for our clients' loved ones as well, most often for their under age children. With this we help bring a sense of balance and "normalcy" back into their lives that have been turned upside-down by their illness.

A great many of our clients are too ill and/or too poor to shop for food and prepare meals for themselves or their families. Without our help they simply would not eat. The daily caring contact with our volunteers delivering the food to our clients' homes is a crucial factor as well. Our volunteers do not only bring delicious meals, they also provide comfort through human contact. They provide hope and dignity as they continue prove every day that our clients can absolutely count on us for life-sustaining nutrition as they are battling for their lives.

History:
Meals of Marin was founded in March 1993 as a direct response to the AIDS crisis. Five years later we widened our mission to provide food specifically for women with breast cancer, as well as to people with other life-threatening illnesses. We have never missed a day, never put anyone on a waiting list and served well over 850,000 meals since the the beginning of Meals of Marin.
