Become a JOLLY GOOD FELLOW Bowling Buddy Youth School Groups Court Appointed Member Agency

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 14, 2009

The Recreation Department is abuzz with Activities. Choose to be a bowling buddy on Monday nights or chose from other ongoing activities and special events. We are looking for warm loving teens who want to share smiles, laughter, and high-fives with the residents of The Cedars of Marin while bowling. Being a weekly JOLLY GOOD FELLOW BOWLING VOLUNTEER is too much fun ! See for yourself by visiting the bowling alley (Country Club lanes in San Rafael) on any Monday night between 7 and 8 o'clock. If you visit ask for Denise, the Volunteer Coordinator, for a warm welcome. We believe that you will leave your volunteer experiences feeling more genuine, generous, respectful, funny and playful. We are the "breath of fresh air" that you won't find anywhere else

An open heart and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others are the basic requirements. We want volunteers to bowl with our residents but being a non-bowling-cheerleading-socializing- volunteer is of value as well. Each individual who participates as a Youth Volunteer is interviewed (usually by phone) prior to attending the organization's orientation and asked to make a commitment of 25 hours (most folks do more) per year.. We will also require students to bring in a Cedars Parent Consent Form (given at the orientation) and proof of a negative TB test (easily available from your physician) before your start date. The application form that you fill out (see our website to download) and the conversation that we will engage in will give us enough information to match you with additional opportunities at The Cedars of Marin if you desire.
Individuals under 14 years of age must have an adult/parent with them. It's great fun ! Parents love to bowl too -- but usually ask for the limited number of bumper lanes.
