The mission of Alzheimer's Services of Cape Cod & the Islands, Inc. (ASCCI) is to provide information, education, and support for people on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket who have Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia and the families and professional who care for them.

Description:
ASCCI is focused on building the capacity of both family and professional caregivers through a comprehensive system of supportive services. Services to family caregivers include a telephone helpline; family care management plans; 3 different types of respite grants; referral services; and education programs including caregiver wellness, legal & financial planning, medication management, and the management of challenging behaviors. Services to professionals include 3 annual conferences, dementia certificate programs throughout the region, and in-service training customized to the specific needs of a facility or agency. ASCCI also produces a quarterly newsletter and maintains an extensive lending library of dementia and caregiving related materials.

History:
ASCCI was formed in 1984 by a group of concerned local professionals to address the growing needs in dementia care in the Cape & Islands region. After a brief affiliation with the National Alzheimer's Association, ASCCI returned to its local roots to best respond directly to the very specific needs of this region. ASCCI is a 100% locally funded and operated 501(c)(3) organization serving Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
