Volunteer Opportunity Details:

AN ALL-AROUND GENERAL OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITION, HELPING AND ASSISTING IN THE RUNNING OF DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS IN OUR PRIMARY OFFICE.
THIS INCLUDES SUCH TASKS AS CHECKING ON AND RE-STOCKING OFFICE SUPPLIES, GIFT SHOP ITEMS, AND MEMBERSHIP AND PUBLICATION MATERIALS,PLUS SOME TELEPHONE COVERAGE AT THE FRONT DESK, OCCASIONAL DATA ENTRY, MAIL SORTING AND DELIVERY, AND SOME FILING.

MUST BE ABLE TO CLIMB UP AND DOWN STEPS AND CARRY UP TO 15 POUNDS

Subway directions Red Line: Get off at the Charles/MGH T stop: walk up Cambridge St. The Otis House will be on your left, next to the West End branch of the Boston Public Library. (10 minutes) Green Line: Get off at the Government Center T stop. From the exit, walk down Cambridge St. (towards Burger King) away from Boston City Hall. The Otis House will be on your right next to the Old West Church. (10 minutes) Orange Line: Get off at the Haymarket T stop. Walk uphill on New Chardon St. and turn right onto Cambridge St. at the lights. The Otis House is on your right next to the Old West Church. (10 minutes) Blue Line: Get off at the Bowdoin T stop. Exit to the right and walk down Cambridge St. towards Mass General Hospital. The Otis House is on your right next to the Old West Church. (5 minutes) Driving directions: Directions from the Mass Pike: - Take the Mass Pike (Rte. 90) East towards Boston - Take exit 18, Cambridge/Somerville (left hand exit) - After toll booth, bear right at fork. Exit ramp merges with Washington St., stay right. - Take right at second light (Doubletree Suite Hotel is at the corner on your right) for entrance ramp on to Storrow Drive/Soldiers Field Road towards Downtown Boston. - Take exit for Government Center/MGH. Go straight at light (curves slightly left as this is a partial rotary), this is Cambridge St. - The Otis House Museum is on your left, #141, between the West End Branch Public Library and the Old West Church. The staff entrance is on the left hand side of the building. - Look for street parking or there is a paid parking lot on Staniford Street. From Cambridge St., turn left onto Staniford Street just past the Otis House. There is a parking garage on your left. Directions from the South: -Take 93 North into the new Boston Artery Tunnel. -Take the Storrow Drive exit while in the tunnel. Follow the signs for Storrow Drive (you will need to be in the right lane at the fist fork) -Once on Storrow Drive, take the Government Center exit which is the first exit and it is a left hand exit. -At lights, go straight under a small commuter rail bridge. This will lead you onto a rotary which will curve to the left, you will want to take you’re second exit which is Cambridge Street (you will pass MGH on your left). - The Otis House Museum is on your left, #141 Cambridge Street, between the West End Branch Public Library and the Old West Church. The staff entrance is on the left hand side of the building. - Look for street parking or there is a parking garage on Staniford Street. To reach the garage, from Cambridge St., turn left onto Staniford Street at the set of lights just past the Otis House. The parking garage is on your left. Directions from the North: - Take 93 South to the Storrow Drive exit. - Once on the Storrow Drive exit ramp, stay left and follow the signs to merge onto Storrow Drive. - Once on Storrow Drive, move to the left lane; take the Government Center exit which is the first left hand exit. (very soon after getting onto Storrow Drive) - At lights, go straight under a small commuter rail bridge.
