Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Duties:

  1. Under the direction of supervisor, identify policy issues that affect seniors within the planning and service area.

  2. Analyze issues, prepare reports for Board of Directors that may be used in communications with legislators at State and Federal levels.

  3. Network with other agencies in the aging network, particularly Councils on Aging and Senior Centers, Aging Services Access Points, Executive Office of Elder Affairs (Boston) and other providers for the purpose of assisting in development and coordination of services offered to seniors.

*****Work plans will be individualized in order to best accommodate each student’s academic requirements, skills, interests and time availability as well as the agency’s existing needs.

Qualifications:

•Effective communications skills; presentation skills helpful
•Technical skills helpful (e.g., computer, statistical knowledge, etc.)
•Sufficient hearing to understand vocalizations of staff and clients
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
•Detail oriented
•Organized
•Sufficient manual dexterity to input data via PC keyboard
•Sufficient mobility to visit various agencies in planning and service area
•Ability to sit for long periods of time while performing tasks

Directions:
 Directions to Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging FROM WEST: Take I-90 (Mass Pike) to Auburn (exit 10). Take I-290 east to exit 19/20 (I-190). Take I-190 north to exit 4 (W. Boylston). When you get to the bottom of the exit ramp, take left onto Rte. 12 north and the immediate next left into the Meadowbrook shopping plaza. Our office is on the second floor in the two story building to the far left. FROM EAST: Take either Rte. 9 or Mass Pike west to 495 north. Then take I-290 west to exit 19, I-190 north. follow same directions as above from exit 4. FROM SOUTH: Take Rte. 495 north to I-290 west to I-190 north. Or, take I-395 north to I-290 east to I-190 north. Then, same as above from exit 4. FROM NORTH: Take Rte. 2 north to I-190 south. Or, take I-495 south to I-290 west to -190 north. Then, same as above from exit 4.
