The mission of Literacy Volunteers, Waterville is to provide free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring services to adult learners who seek to improve their literacy skills.
Description:
Literacy Volunteers, Waterville, provides tutoring services on a weekly basis to adults with a wide range of literacy skills including those whose functional reading and writing abilities are at or below the first grade level, adults in the Adult Education system with literacy skills below grade level, students with learning disabilities and ESL students.
Our services are available to any adult learner who has a personal goal to further their literacy skills regardless of their reading or writing level.
Literacy Volunteer students work to improve their literacy skills to secure better jobs, obtain drivers licenses, read to their children, help their children with homework, prepare for GED exams, become more self-sufficient, enhance job skills, read for personal enjoyment, improve self-image and self-confidence, learn to write letters, complete forms and applications, attend Adult Education classes, and a vast array of other goals.
