Spectrum Generations Formerly Known As Senior Spectrum
Spectrum Generations offers independent living options to older adults and their families through a toll-free Help Line and a network of community centers throughout central and mid-coast Maine. Our goal is to match services and resources to individual's needs regarding health services, living arrangements, leisure options, financial services and much more.
Our programs include Nutrition, Adult Day Health, Information Services, Health & Wellness, Family Care Giver, Bridges Home Health Services and Volunteer Corps.

Spectrum Generations is the Central Maine Agency on Aging, a non-profit agency offering independent living options to adults and their families through a toll-free Information and Help Line and a network of community centers. The community centers provide activities for active adults, plus health and educational opportunities such as health screenings, speakers, and support group meetings.
Spectrum Generations Volunteer Corp contributions in time and energy allow us to serve more adults and their families in leading vibrant and independent lives. Other services available include help with taxes, insurance, transportation, adult day care, caregiver respite, Meals on Wheels and on-site dining. History:
In 1972, five Area Agencies on Aging were designated by the Governor of the State of Maine. We began as Central Senior Citizens' Association. Our first services were transportation and congregate meals. A few years later, the Agency began the Meals on Wheels program, using volunteers only and becoming the first agency in the state to use this method.
In 1979, the Muskie Community Center was developed with a major emphasis on Adult Day Care. Our name was changed to Central Maine Area Agency on Aging d/b/a Senior Spectrum to reflect the increased visibility of Area Agencies both nationally and statewide.
In 1992 Winslow Place began for housing adults with moderate needs. The follow year, DHS (Dept. of Human Services)asked Senior Spectrum to increase our PCA (Personal Care Assistant)staff statewide and to spin off the PCA program, which ultimately became Home Resources of Maine.
In the mid to late 1990's we opened the William S. Cohen Community Center, began Senior Connections d/b/a Bridges and offered home health services for a fee.
In 1999 we launched Maine's most prestigious senior show - The Mature Lifestyle EXPO. During 2001, development of the federally mandated Family Caregiver Support Program began.
Effective January 14, 2008, we changed our name to Spectrum Generations to underscore our work with adults and their families as they mature through their lives – regardless of age.

Our core mission of serving older adults and their families remains the same, but as SPECTRUM GENERATIONS, we will offer additional, new programs that are proactive in helping you stay healthier, happier and more active.
Our new name and look will encompass the spectrum of generations who want to not only live longer but to live well.
Spectrum Generations now has 7 community or resource centers located in Skowhegan, Waterville, Hallowell, Belfast, Rockland, Damariscotta and Brunswick.
Today, we have a volunteer base of over 500 motivated and dedicated volunteers assisting us in bringing more programs and services to area seniors.
