Mid Coast Chapter Of The American Red Cross
The Mid Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross exists to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergency situations. We do this through our five lines of service. All Red Cross emergency services are provided free of charge and are funded by the generosity of individual and corporate donors; no government funding is received.
- Emergency Services -- We provide disaster education to the general public and response initiatives to anyone impacted by disasters such as house fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, ice storms, and other natural disasters. We provide both emotional and logistical support, giving victims the food, shelter, clothing, and emotional tools they need to make it through a disaster situation.
- Health and Safety Services -- We give people the skills to prevent and respond to emergency situations through various training courses for laypersons and professional emergency responders including CPR, First Aid, Babysitter Training, Water Safety, Lifeguarding, AED, Blood Borne Pathogens, and more.
- Services to Armed Forces -- When military members are stationed far from loved ones, communication can be difficult at best. The Mid Coast Chapter provides messaging services to members of the military and their families so that the military member's chain of command can be notified of the issues facing the family at home.
- Blood Services -- Americans rely on the Red Cross to collect and distribute a safe, hygenic blood supply to local hospitals and health centers. The blood donated at Red Cross collection sites saves lives every day.
- International Services -- The Mid Coast Chapter provides tracing services for family members who are separated or estranged from contact due to international disasters or conflicts. We also train and equip local volunteers to be delpoyable in the event of an international disaster such as an earthquake or a tsunami.

The Mid Coast Chapter celebrated its 100th year anniversary in May 2009.
