Keep ME Warm Teams

What is a Keep ME Warm Team?

Escalating heating and transportation costs are placing an unbearable economic burden on many Mainers. Keep ME Warm Teams are part of a neighbor helping neighbor response to citizens struggling to stay warm this winter. These teams of community-minded individuals and agencies are now convening across Maine to organize, coordinate and facilitate response to individual energy emergencies within their communities.

What does a Keep ME Warm Team do?

Keep ME Warm Teams mobilize available local human, financial and material resources to assist community members in need of help to stay  warm in their own home or within their community.

Some things the teams may do:
o    Assess resources and post on 2-1-1 Maine
o    Coordinate with local organizations to:
        -- Establish Neighbor Check-Ins
-- Organize heat delivery teams to provide space heaters, wood, or other safe sources of home heat
-- Establish a local "safety net" to support families without heating resources
        -- Identify warming centers

Each team needs a convener who will get the ball rolling in that community.

What does the Keep ME Warm Team Convener do?
The Convener identifies team members and invites them to meet at an established time and place to begin assessment of resources and planning local response.
