Stamford Museum & Nature Center is dedicated to the preservation of art, the natural and agricultural sciences, and history. The Museum is a vital cultural and educational resource for the community, and a focal point for family activity and interaction, seeking to inspire creativity, foster self-discovery, and nurture an appreciation for lifelong learning through exhibitions, educational programs and special events that enhance the visitor's experience on its unique site.
Description:
SM&NC was founded in 1937 as a public art museum and nature center. Its facilities include art galleries,Heckscher Farm (a 10-acre working farm with farm animals and gardens), nature exhibits, planetarium, observatory, and picnic area. There is also Nature's Playground built into the woods with a tree house, slides, and other unique equipment. The new Animal Embassy is home to a collection of live exotic animals.This 118-acre site also includes nature trails and Wheels in the Woods handicapped accessible trail.
