English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Tutor Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Tutors assist people in learning to speak English as their second language. Hundreds of people in Fairfield County speak little or no English. We will train you to help them learn to speak English. Our students' eagerness to learn English is amazing. We currently have a waiting list of students in need of tutors. Tutoring times are at your convenience. Tutors must speak English clearly and be clearly understood. Training is free. PEOPLE INTERESTED SHOULD ATTEND A VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION SESSION TO LEARN WHAT IS REQUIRED OF A TUTOR. The next Orientation will be Monday, September 14, Norwalk Library from 7 PM - 8 PM. ESOL tutor training will start in September,Please call 203-853-7437 or 203-579-2208 to register or for more information. Potential tutors need to be high school graduates. You do not need to speak another language, English is the only requirement. You will be expected to meet with your students on a weekly basis.
