Agency Details:
Advocates For Children CASA
Speaking up for abused and neglected children through Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA Volunteers). Striving for all children to live and thrive in safe, permanent, nurturing homes.
Description:
CASA Volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are community members who ease the overburdened child welfare system by volunteering to advocate for children affected by abuse and neglect. CASAs get to know these children and speak up for them in court, providing the court parties with timely, pertinent information to help ensure that the child's best interests are served. Perhaps even more important, CASAs are a constant presence and source of comfort throughout the child's long and sometimes frightening journey through the child welfare system. CASAs must be 21 years or older, and willing to commit 10 hours of their time each month for the duration of a case (12-18 months). Volunteers must attend 30 hours of training in order to be sworn in by the court to serve as a CASA. Please contact us by email or phone us at (303) 695-1882 for more information and an application. Our next training begins April 7, 2009, apply today!
History:
