Volunteers are needed to serve as tutors for adults needing English as a Second Language and Basic Reading instruction. All tutors have to go through our training program. Training workshops are held in the Spring and Fall. Contact our office in Essex to get put on the mailing list for the Workshop info. Tutors have to attend all 22 hours of the training workshops held at our office on Middlesex Turnpike in Essex.  This opportunity is sponsored by: Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore, CT, Inc.

To get here from ROUTE 9 NORTH:
Take Exit 3 off Route 9 North. Go straight across the road to
25 Middlesex Turnpike.
To get here from ROUTE 9 SOUTH:
Take Exit 3 off Route 9 South. Take a left at end of exit, go under
Route 9 to traffic light. Go straight at light. 25 Middlesex Turnpike
Is on the left a few hundred feet past traffic light next to the
Essex Firehouse.
To get here from I-95:
Take the Route 9 exit off I-95. Go to exit 3 (see Rte. 9 north above)
To get here from ROUTE 153:
Follow Route 153 to Essex. Go under Route 9 to traffic lights. Turn
right onto Middlesex Turnpike. Go a few hundred feet to No. 25 on
the left (next to Essex Firehouse). It’s a one-story tan building.
The Literacy Volunteers office is located on the side of the tan building facing you as you enter the driveway with a red awning over the entrance. Our sign is to the left of the entrance door. |
