YWCA Malden Mentoring
The YWCA Malden Mentoring Program is to empower at-risk youth in our community within a structured group setting to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential. By linking students with encouraging role models, we aim to promote strong relationships among peers and adults and the ability to identify and express unique strengths.
Description:
The YWCA Malden is dedicated to empowering girls, women, and their families from Malden and its neighboring communities. We strive to enhance the lives of women and girls by respecting individuality, eliminating racism, celebrating diversity, and encouraging active participation in improving our communities. We are committed to providing programs that promote economic independence, personal fulfillment and confident adulthood. For children's services, we offer center-based child care, site-based and teen enrichment programs, group mentoring and leadership development through community service. Our programs for women include wellness services and an economic advancement program.
History:
The YWCA Malden is an innovator among community-based groups in Malden, with more than 75 years of experience creating unique programs that help the city’s low-income and at-risk populations. Responding to disparities that impact girls, women, and populations of color, the YWCA creates meaningful partnerships to develop and implement creative program models, many of which have the potential for replication beyond the Malden community. It is through this pioneering work that the YWCA fulfills its mission of Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women and Girls.
