The Arc of East Middlesex (EMARC)is a private, not-for-profit service organization established by parents in 1954. Our mission is to provide and promote consumer-driven services for people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Description:
The following is an overview of the services The Arc of East Middlesex provides:

-Residential Supports
-Job Training and Paid Work in a sheltered workshop
-Employment Opportunities at supervised sites in the community
-The Center for Emerging Artists
-School to Work Transition Services
-Respite Care
-Family Support Groups
-Successful Parenting Program for parents with cognitive limitations
-Inclusion Training
-Recreation Programs
-Journey to Independence


History:
EMARC advocates for support on a local, state, and national level so that people with developmental disabilities and their families can lead more independent and meaningful lives. EMARC serves the communities of Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Saugus, Lynn, Medford, Malden and Everett. Programs are supported by funds through the Department of Mental Retardation, grants from cities and towns, and private donations.
