Peoples' Self-Help Housing Corporation
Founded in 1970, Peoples' Self-Help Housing (PSHH) provides affordable housing and programs leading to self-sufficiency for low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities along California's Central Coast.
Description:
The Education Enhancement Program (EEP), an after school education program currently operating at four sites in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, runs daily year-round and is headed by bilingual, credentialed educators at each site. Many of our residents are monolingual Spanish-speakers, and their children are usually behind in school. Our goal is to improve their study skills, increase their self-esteem, improve graduation rates and encourage them to go to college. We currently offer the program at four of our housing sites in Santa Barbara County; two sites are in Carpinteria, one is in Santa Maria and one is in Guadalupe. The program is offered in the afternoons from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.
