Page Youth Center
Page Youth Center develops, promotes, and supports sports, fitness, wellness and recreational programs for all residents of Southern Santa Barbara County, regardless of age or physical abilities.
Description:
Our primary mission is to enrich the lives of youth in our community, targeting boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Through sports and solid coaching skills we teach that playing the game is not all about winning or losing, it’s about life. Children learn the experience of being a team player and the importance of supporting others. Using sports, we help our youth develop self-confidence, physical fitness, and personal responsibility. Realizing that today’s youth are tomorrow’s community citizens, participants, and leaders, our programs help to instill the values of perseverance, teamwork, cooperation, practice and sportsmanship. While youth are our primary mission we do not forget the Young at Heart. Fitness, conditioning and wellness programs are provided for adults and seniors. Adult programs include sports such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis and badminton plus a variety of adult & senior conditioning programs. The Page Youth Center not only conducts activities at its facility but also goes to elementary schools on the South Coast to provide “Intramural” after school sports programs. We take organized sports to children who may not otherwise have an opportunity to participate in any type of sport or after school activity. The Page Youth Center is a non-profit corporation overseen by a volunteer board of directors representing the local community. To meet the goals of our programs and ensure we are able to follow our mission, the Page Youth Center maintains a multipurpose sports and recreation facility. This outstanding 23,000 square foot facility features a 16,000-square-foot gymnasium suitable for a variety of sports and includes additional community meeting rooms. In addition to our own activities, the facility is used by several sport, community, and educational, social and non-profit organizations. The Page Youth Center only exists as a result of the generosity of members of the Santa Barbara and Goleta community. Activity participation fees, facility rentals and ongoing user agreements with other organizations pay for only a portion of the cost of operating the Page Youth Center. The Page Youth Center depends on donations from individuals and foundations, advertisements at the facility, cooperation from local businesses and community support of special events to fund its operating costs.
