Legal Aid Foundation Of Santa Barbara County
Our Mission is to ensure that low-income people and seniors have access to the civil justice system - to secure safe shelter, adequate income, and protection from domestic violence and elder abuse.

For those who qualify, our free emergency legal services include the provision of legal information and advice, help with the preparation of legal documents, and representation in court and administrative hearings. Our priority service areas are Family Law (domestic violence child custody and
- , Elder Law, Public Benefits (Social Security and disability)and Landlord law (housing discrimination and code violations.) In Fiscal
Year 2008-09 we helped nearly 5,000 individuals of which 93% were low income.
History:
The Legal Aid Foundation was founded in 1959 to ensure equal and meaningful access to the justice system through the provision of free,high-quality legal services critical civil matters to Santa Barbara County residents living at or below the poverty level, those facing language or disability barriers, seniors and others living on fixed incomes such as Social Security, and victims of domestic violence and elder abuse.
