Our mission is to empower low income individuals to achieve self-sufficiency through employment success. We have served over 18,000 individuals since our inception in 1993.

Description:
The heart of WHW is the comprehensive Employment Success Program, which offers a variety of services including job placement assistance, career assessment, interview-appropriate clothing and image consulting, computer training, and educational workshops to increase job search skills and financial literacy. WHW offers these services at no cost or obligation to clients of over 200 government and non-profit agencies. WHW has successfully served over 2,600 men and women with services this year!

History:
Women Helping Women (WHW) was founded in 1993 by two women who had experienced domestic abuse. As they moved forward to rebuild their lives, they discovered acquiring and rebuilding a wardrobe with limited resources was a huge challenge. They stepped forward to address this gap in service by forming a California non-profit organization - Women Helping Women.

The founders began collecting professional clothing from co-workers and friends and delivered them to the local domestic abuse shelters. The word spread and soon the service was being requested from agencies supporting women in drug & alcohol recovery, those leaving welfare and prison and those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
