The Paralysis Project’s mission is to accelerate progress towards restoring function to those with paralysis. This will be accomplished by funding carefully selected scientific and clinical projects that focus on spinal cord repair and regeneration.

Description:
The Paralysis Project funds novel lines of scientific endeavors to understand basic biological mechanisms and develop effective interventions for the treatment of paralysis. Ultimately the goal is to assist those suffering from paralysis due to spinal cord injury and other conditions such as post-polio syndrome and transverse myelitis. Scientific research grants are awarded to investigators based on the monies made available from The Paralysis Project's fundraising activities.

Volunteers are needed for our many fund raising projects: The Sports Legends Awards Dinner (Winter), Golf Tournaments, The Long Beach International City Bank Marathon and more!

History:
The Paralysis Project of America was founded in 1987 by the parents of young people paralyzed by spinal cord injury, along with others dedicated to finding a cure for paralysis. Headquartered in Los Angeles, it is active throughout California. It is a tax exempt, 501(C)3 non profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Current research projects also extend to paralysis caused by stroke and illness.
