CSP Youth Shelter
The CSP Youth Shelter in Huntington Beach is a short-term intervention "safe-haven" for runaway, homeless and at-risk youth 11-17 years of age.
Description:
The program provides a safe, supportive, therapeutic environment designed to give youth the experience of belonging to a group of caring, responsible people, and to provide them with the catalyst to stop the cycle of running away and homelessness. Our goals include family strengthening and reunification, diversion of at-risk youth from the Juvenile System, homelessness prevention and school drop-out prevention. The CSP Youth Shelter provides temporary shelter, 24-hour supervision, individual and family therapy, support group counseling, academic assistance and tutoring, job/career readiness, and aftercare services, among many others.
History:
CSP was established in 1972 at the University of California, Irvine, under the aegis of the Social Ecology Program. Diversion counseling for delinquent youths and their families was provided at the Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach Police Departments. Since that time, CSP has grown dramatically in size and scope and has designed and implemented some of the most respected prevention and intervention programs in Southern California. CSP's model programs assist over 80,000 persons a year ~ abused children, struggling families, acting out adolescents, victims of crime, and people in need of mediation services. CSP proudly celebrates over 30 years of providing services in Orange County.
