Volunteers Needed For 2009 EITC Campaign

Do you want to be a part of making a difference in the lives of others in your community? Orange County United Way has a worthwhile volunteer opportunity for you. Volunteers are currently being recruited to support the upcoming Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Community Tax Days Campaign. Community Tax Days are free events that offer free tax preparation hosted by partnering agencies to families and individuals who make $42,000 or less.

The EITC Campaign efforts help families and individuals access the under-utilized EITC free of charge through the partnership and collaboration of community partners, financial institutions and community leaders with the overarching goal of economic self-sufficiency.

Volunteers will be placed with partnering agencies throughout Orange County from January 22, 2009 – April 11, 2009 to volunteer in the following opportunities:

• Greeting and checking-in clients
• Assisting with computer support
• Organizing tax returns
• Assisting with surveys

When: January 22, 2009 – April 11, 2009
Time: Weeknights and Saturdays
Hours: Will vary depending on site; a minimum of 2 hours is requested.

Volunteers: Must be 18 years of age and over.

Skills:
• Customer service oriented
• Patient
• Eager to help
• Spanish and Vietnamese speakers are highly encouraged to volunteer
