Camp Companion is dedicated to changing the face of homeless animals in Southeastern Minnesota, one spay at time.

Camp Companion believes that all cats deserve a safe and loving home. Unfortunately, many cats born each year are destined to be homeless. Some will be killed as surplus at animal control facilities; others will lead dismal lives as unowned strays. With the goals of relieving the suffering of homeless cats and reducing their staggering numbers, Camp Companion operates a free program to trap and neuter feral and stray cats, and then return them to their caretakers. The Operation Catnip program is directed by a staff of volunteers, including veterinarians, veterinary students, veterinary technicians and cat lovers. History:
Camp Companion began Operation Catnip in 2003 by spaying or neutering 12 cats. In 2004 we increased our program and served 236 cats. 2005 was a very successful year and we exceeded our goal of 500 cats, by spaying or neutering 545 cats. In 2006 we spayed or neutered 551 cats. Our 2007 goal was 1000 cats, and in 2008 we achieved 1266 cats! Camp Companion’s Operation Catnip Clinic is modeled after a successful trap-neuter-return program in North Carolina. Although we have used their model, we have modified it to fit the needs of the SE Minnesota cat populations.
